Since the founding of the college in 1856, Newberry has had the opportunity for quality, local higher education. With the expansion of Piedmont Tech in the 1990s, Newberry's educational offerings continue to grow. Many other fine institutions are just a short commute away.
Newberry College
Newberry College is a private liberal arts institution founded in 1856. It is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. With a student-teacher ratio of 12:1, Newberry has all the amenities of a small college: an enrollment of about 750 men and women; easy rapport between

Piedmont Technical College
Piedmont Technical College opened in 1966 and serves Abbeville, Edgefield, Greenwood, Laurens, McCormick, Newberry and Saluda Counties.
